Survivor Gabon episode 9 recap

Kota ~ got to camp from Tribal Council.  Former Fang members
gloated about blindsiding Marcus.

Fang ~ tree mail.  They found props of a golf ball and slingshot.
They practiced.  They were starved and needed reward.

Reward Challenge ~ Super Golf.  Fang won reward!  Bob was
sent to Exile Island.

Fang ~ the happy & hungry winners went to BWITI VILLAGE
where they were greeted by Gabonese Natives.  They received
the baths and got the sarongs wrapped around their bodies.
They feasted heartily and danced.

Kota ~ Kenny caught some fish.  He gloated that he knew
how to play the game.

Exile Island ~ Bob chose clues over comfort.  He followed
the clues but he didn’t find an immunity idol.  So he made
a fancy-looking fake one and wrapped it in a cloth!

Fang ~ tree mail.  Matty read the note about fire-building.
Randy complained about Crystal and said she didn’t know
how to start a fire.

Immunity Challenge ~ Bob came back from Exile.  Jeff surprised
them by announcing that it was a merge!  They dropped their
old buffs for fresh new blue buffs!  They completed in individual
challenge in fire-building.  Susie and Sugar were almost tied, but
Susie’s fire burned the rope first, so she won her first individual
immunity and Jeff gave her a necklace.

Nobag ~ the campers settled in old Fang camp.  They painted
their names on the blue flag marked “Nobag”, backwards for
Gabon.  They feasted, too.  Corrine and Charlie tried to work
on Sugar into voting off Crystal.  Susie, Crystal, and Kenny
tried to work on Sugar into voting off Charlie.  Sugar was not sure.

Tribal Council ~ Randy & Crystal argued.  Some ballots showed
Crystal and Charlie.  Jeff revealed four Crystal ballots and four
Charlie ballots.  Jeff drew a final one - Charlie.  His torch was
snuffed as he became 10th person out of Survivor: Gabon.

I am very disappointed in Sugar!!  She did a stupid move by
following Fang members rather than Kota members!  Kenny
was the one who created an ugly name like Nobag!  It was
un-creative.  He couldn’t have a better idea of picking a better
name? I’m also disappointed that Bob failed to find a hidden
immunity idol, but he did a brilliant move by creating a
genuine-looking fake hidden immunity idol!  Let’s see what
will happen with it.

Next Week ~ Randy goes skinny dipping!  He tells Matty that
he was not part of an alliance of Susie, Crystal, and Kenny.
Randy stirs up camp!

Survivor Gabon and the Maybe Merge Tonight

Bob’s future in the Survivor game depends on whether or not
the tribes merge tonight. If there isn’t a merge (unlikely)
then either Matty or Bob is gone. If they DO merge, then either
Suzie, Ken or Matty will be gone. Charlie, Randy, Corrine, and
Bob will pull in Sugar (who was VERY pissed at Ken for lying
to her about Ace) and proceed to vote off the others.

Matty is obviously the biggest challenge threat, though Bob
and Randy (of all people) seem to hold their own. He would
be the strategic vote.

Suzie is a train wreck in progress, and she’s pissed off Randy,
Corrine, and now Bob.  She is the emotional vote off, but not
really a vital move. If she can keep from annoying everybody
enough to vote her off in disgust, she might hang around a
while – but I doubt it.

Ken might be Sugar’s price to cooperate with the others – I
think she will not forget or forgive him, and will want him gone.

Of course, all of this is speculation; people this season seem
to not act in their own best interest..and ya never know what
monkey wrench could be thrown in the works.

I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!!!

The following celebrities have been confirmed to be appearing in this year’s I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! The show will premiere on Sunday night on the UK’s ITV1.  Martina Navratilova, Brian Paddick, Simon Webbe, Esther Rantzen, Dani Behr,  Robert Kilroy-Silk and WAG Carly Zucker. Well the ten have been revealed and all but one has been rumored to be going in for weeks. It’s that one name that the papers missed that will have me watching avidly, it’s George Takei. I’m a life long Star Trek fan though so I know others won’t all share my enthusiasm. I just hope he doesn’t prove to be disappointing like Antonio Fargas was a few years back.

Survivor Gabon - Matty and Randy

Two players are left that have been dominant in challenges  Matty and Randy. But Matty is a challenge away from being booted and randy has destroyed his bridges with former fang and is enemy number one. Bob and Kenny are dodging bullets like they are in the matrix.
Kenny dodged and now it is Bob’s turn. Crystal, Susie, Corrine, Charlie, and Sugar have been sub par and/or carried to this point in the game. But they are now in the driver’s seat. Those who have done the most are gone. Those who have done the least remain. Those in the middle are in danger of being booted. Thru it all we still have sugar and spice. Good and evil.

Fun times ahead in Eden.

Survivor Gabon - Sugar and Spice

In Eden we now have sugar and spice together. Sugar is sweet.
Corrine is sour. Sugar cries at every turn. She cries when she
does well, she cries when others don’t eat while she eats at
exile, she cries for Ace. Sugar cares. Corrine is insulting someone
at every turn. She is smug and hates Sugar and Susie.  She
wants to stab Susie in the face. She cannot stand Sugar.
Corrine cares about  Corrine. Sugar has been thrown into
poo poo several times and each times she finds diamonds.
She was sent to exile and found idol. She wasn’t picked for
a team and avoided tribal council while eating fruit at exile.
Others starve while she gets sent to fantasy island and
eats and sleeps good. She is never at camp yet doesn’t
miss out on food, shelter or strategy. She stinks at challenges
and gets immunity handed to her. She shrugs and gives up
in challenges yet she is so sweet no one cares. Her opponents
want her around and her allies need her. When her tribe
needed her in a challenge - each time she failed and directly
caused the loss. But you can’t hate her. She is sweet and caring.
You can’t help but like her. Corrine has been riding the bandwagon.
She has skated so well she could go to a roller disco and dance
to the theme song from Xanadu. She has never had to worry
about being booted. Someone was always less liked or weaker
and she has had good allies since beginning. She is middle of pack.
She is invisible in challenges as she doesn’t shine nor suck
horrible at them. Ace, Dan, Randy, and Marcus carried her and
last week it was Matty.  She is negative. She has had the least
amount of camera time of women (seems even Michelle had more
and she was in one episode) and usually it is anti-sugar or anti-susie.
She lost Susie from her tribe but gets Sugar back to hate on again.
She is in perfect skate position. She has numbers if her tribe stays
and bigger targets  (like Randy) for her enemies if no tribes. She
is sour and uncaring. You can almost see Emperor Palpatine telling
her the dark side of the force is strong within her. Fear leads to anger.
Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to the dark side of the force.

Eden is a funny place.

Survivor Gabon and Horrible Performances

In the game of Survivor horrible performances are always magnified, and the social game for those contestants would be different. Courtnie and Katie wouldn’t have both been runner-ups like they were. Survivor is social game show with physical and mental competitions sprinkled in to give winners food and rewards and force the losers into a negative social situation. How we perceive someone is how we judge their performance. Ace was seen as a dick so many people did not give him credit for trying to manipulate and get an idol. Had Ace been Parvati, Cirie, or Natalie people would say it was a smart move.  But since Ace is a man he is just being a bully and a jerk. People are pre-judged and when they don’t live up to it they are called failures. No one expects much from someone weak and tiny so they skate in the game and they skate from criticism.

Survivor Gabon and the Weak Competitor

I see now finally a swing vote person that is at the bottom
of the pecking order of a dominant alliance does the smart move.
Crystal and Ken once again get a weak competitor woman to play
Eve and get Adam with an apple and get him cast from eden.
Crystal whispers in Sugar’s ear and she stabs Ace. He is gone.
Crystal whispers to Susie that Corrine and Randy hate her so
Susie stabs Marcus and he is gone. Crystal and Susie were
gone last week and both survived while the two strongest
male competitors for each tribe were cast out of eden.
Summary: Sugar cries, Randy is obnoxious, Crystal performs like a
carebear in a challenge, survivors are given food, another
strong person voted out. Just another normal night of survivor!

Survivor Gabon - Randy and the Razor

So sad to see Dr. Marcus has left the Gabon Operating Room!  “Poor
Charlie” he is just going to be soooo devastated…who is he going
slobber over now???  The vote was pretty stressful for Kenny. I think
for Susie she made a good move to lengthen her stay in the game.
Nice to see the underdogs ganging up and playing the game.  Once Kota
sees that Marcus is missing can you just imagine what the look on their
faces will be like.

I could not believe that Matty and Sugar had that quick chat over Ace’s
demise and Sugar was crying about it!  I wonder what they must be
thinking now watching tonight’s episode as of now. I liked the merge
twist, but it was not really a merge. I was surprised about the decision to
throw the idol in the water. I really wonder who is going to go back
and look for it?  Oh yes, and Randy King of Gabon, more wine please?

One has to wonder what bar he is hosting in while this show and
seeing how the editing is made him look is playing on the big
plasma TV there!!!

Pass the bottle and a razor!

Survivor Gabon episode 8 recap

Kota ~ a tension rose among the campers after Tribal Council.
They were upset with each other about their voting off plans
of Susie and Dan.

Fang ~ Crystal was upset with Matty for writing her name on
his ballot. Matty said he had to keep his promise to Ace.
Sugar was glad she was safe. She said she trusted Kenny
and she had to get ride of Ace before he threw her under the bus.

Kota ~ Corrine complained about Susie. Tree mail! They
were excited that they could go to the feast!

Reward Challenge ~ feast of different foods. Kota & Fang
members met and hugged each other. They were eating
heartily. They were not to open the sealed box until they
finished eating. Ken spotted a note under the box. It
was a clue to a hidden immunity idol! Then the group
decided to look for it. Randy found it. He announced
that he was a king of Gabon! Nobody wanted to become
a target if took a hidden immunity idol. So the group
decided to throw the idol out in the open ocean! Randy
threw it out and called himself the king! The box was
opened. A note was read. Another Tribal Switch!
The castaways were shocked as they expected the merge!
Crystal and Ken got new buffs and joined Kota tribe.
Randy returned to Fang. Corrine & Charlie got new buffs
and joined Fang tribe!

Kota ~ Crystal and Ken were happy to be in Kota camp
since most members were formerly Fang. Crystal and
Marcus made a pact! Crystal said she made same
promise to Ace and he got blindsided.

Fang ~ Matty told Sugar Ace was gunning for her and
never played her. Sugar realized that she was duped
by Kenny and Crystal. She felt some regret for believing
Kenny and wished she would keep Ace.

Kota ~ Marcus and Susie argued a little about staying in
the game as Susie pleaded to stay in the game longer.

Fang ~ Randy & Corrine talked about getting rid of Matty.
Matty and Sugar got tree mail.

Immunity Challenge ~ each person had to hold poles by
back of hands. Dan and Bob were left. Bob couldn’t hold
the poles, he gave up. So Fang won immunity!

Kota ~ Marcus talked Crystal into getting rid of Kenny and Susie.
Crystal confided that she didn’t fall for Marcus’ schemes. Marcus
approached Susie and asked her to vote off Crystal! Crystal talked
Susie into voting with them to oust Marcus! Susie was not sure
what she would do.

Tribal Council ~ Marcus & Bob showed Ken ballots. Crystal & Ken
showed Marcus ballots. Susie’s ballot was not shown. Jeff pulled
a final vote - Marcus. This sent him out as 9th person from Survivor: Gabon.

I am a little disappointed that the tribal switch happened for 2nd time.
I wish Kenny would go instead of Marcus. The show was interesting, though.

Next Week ~ Randy and Matty get in the verbal fight at Fang camp.
Kenny catches a half body of a large fish. African Natives dance!

Survivor Gabon and the Strong Alliance Theory

A common misconception about Survivor is you have a better
chance of winning the whole thing if you do great at the
challenges. But it doesn’t really matter how you do in challenges.
The top athletes have been getting picked off by the weak the
past seasons. The top female competitor Jacquie bit it
and the top men Dan and Ace already got the boot. Susie
and Crystal had something Ace and Dan didn’t - allies.

Having a strong alliance is the most important part of survivor.
Earl, Yul, and Tom were good at challenges but each had strong
alliances and sidekicks. Ozzie, Yao-man, and Ian, Todd and Parvati
both had  “girl power” (Todd with Courtney, lunch lady and Amanda
and Parvati with Natalie, Cirie and Amanda).
